Lynn's Strange Portrait Request...

I was delighted to receive an email from Lynn, whose wedding I photographed a few years ago in Crear, but was intrigued by the title of the email - A Strange Portrait Request. Upon reading I was delighted to discover Lynn was pregnant and wanted photos of her baby bump. We arranged to shoot the pictures in Lynn and Andrew's home as I love working in the most relaxed and natural way I can, using available light if at all possible so it doesn't feel like an impersonal studio shoot. I also thought it would help give the images a sense of time and place, like my favourite family photographs where the surroundings of 1960s and 70s wallpaper and carpets are as fascinating as the people.
Lynn and Andrew were so lovely to photograph and I'm so happy they asked me to do this for them. I love the photos we captured and feel a bit emotional when I think that the last time I photographed Lynn she was a new bride and now she's going to be a new mummy.

Leigh & Bob's Wedding @ The George Hotel, Edinburgh

Leigh and Bob's Wedding in April was at the fabulous George Hotel in Edinburgh. I was excited to shoot their wedding as the last time I'd been in The George was as a photography student at Napier University, when I had a part time job as a waitress there!

Leigh and Bob had put a lot of thought and time into planning their wedding and no detail was overlooked.
Thousands of flowers were placed throughout the hotel by Planet Flowers, with the theme changing from white flowers during the ceremony to bright, carnival-coloured flowers for the meal and evening reception.

Leigh, wearing a beautiful Pronovias dress, and her Dad entered through an archway of flowers to walk down the aisle underneath the King's Hall's amazing chandelier.

The ceremony was conducted by Leigh and Bob's friend Susan and there were lots of smiles, a few tears and laughter.

After the ceremony Leigh & Bob's guests were treated to a surprise performance by all-girl violin supergroup Bond, who played a rousing set while everyone enjoyed champagne and canapes.

As the sun was shining we decided to head to Queen Street private gardens for some outdoor shots and enjoy some greenery and fresh air in the heart of the city.

Back at The George, guests were relaxing and enjoying each other's company in the stunning foyer and bar areas, while Planet Flowers and Kelly and her team at The George put the finishing touches to the tables for dinner.

Speeches were lively and heartfelt and another surprise was in store for after dinner, but this time for Leigh and Bob! Leigh's Dad had arranged for Surprise Singing Waiters from London to entertain everyone as coffee was served and it was a blast!

After cutting the amazing and throughly delicious (I had some with a cup of tea!) cake from Choccywoccydoodah in Brighton, it was on to the first dance and finishing with some nightime shots from the Panoramic Suite and the city streets. A perfect end to an amazing day.

Lynn & David had a beautiful sunny day for their wedding in Glasgow's House For An Art Lover. Lynn, being a talented jewellery designer, was wearing jewellery she had designed and made herself that looked fantastic with her silver grecian dress. She is updating her jewellerywebsite at the moment, but I'll post a link once it's ready! Their first dance was very impressive - Lynn and David choreographed it themselves and were step perfect!

Kat & John's wedding in Barony Castle, nr Peebles

Kat & John's wedding day was the warmest day of the year so far so the wedding ceremony went ahead outdoors as planned! It was my first time photographing a wedding in Barony Castle and I was bowled over by it, it really is a stunning venue. Again, special mention goes to the shoes! A wonderful day.

Pauline and Gareth braved the unpredictable Scottish May weather for a stunning ceremony in the ruins of Crossraguel Abbey in Ayrshire. Both the ceremony and drinks reception were held al fresco before heading to the Lochside House Hotel for a wonderful reception. I've made a point of posting a pic of Pauline's amazing bling shoes!

A stylish southside wedding for Nadeen and Chris in Sherbrooke-St Gilberts Church and House For An Art Lover, one of my favourite venues! It was a wee bit blustery but the sun still shone for us all, not that it mattered as both venues are amazing inside and out. Nadeen had chosen a fab Sassi Halford dress to be married in would have given Audrey Hepburn a run for her money!

Jenny & Keith were married in the beautiful Stonefield Castle (www.oxfordhotelsandinns.com/OurHotels/StonefieldCastleHotel) in Argyll in April. The castle is tucked away near Tarbert and Jenny and Keith's guests watched them take their marriage vows against the stunning background of Loch Fyne. I'm lucky to have a job that takes me to all these wonderful places!

Christina and Jeroen's wedding on Saturday the 27th March at Strathblane Country House Hotel was a truly international affair, with guests from as far afield as Siberia and Norway. Guests were treated to an impressive falconry display and Christina and Jeroen were relaxed and happy all day - a feeling I think really comes across in their photos!

I had a lovely day on Saturday photographing Laura and Brian's wedding in St Gabriel's RC Church in Newlands and The Crutherland House Hotel in East Kilbride. The sun was shining and I was informed by Laura and Brian's videographer John Paul of Leven films that it was officially the first day of spring - a beautiful day! We stopped off at Holmwood House for a couple of shots also. Have a great time in NYC Laura and Brian!
